For Parents and Caregivers:

Notice to Parents and Caregivers

For more than 21 years, the Children's Museum of Los Angeles has been a trusted and valued leader in arts-based educational programming. As we move our universe into the digital domain, this trust becomes even more important to you, and to us. We believe that the following will enhance the safety, value, and enjoyment of your child's visits to our site.

1.  We will not collect personally identifiable information from your child without parental permission.

2.  If we know that your child is under the age of thirteen, we will collect your permission offline (by postal mail, fax or phone) before allowing them to register with our site. If we become aware that a subscriber is under the age of thirteen and has registered without prior parental consent, we will remove his or her personally identifiable registration information from our files.

Please note: we may nevertheless maintain a record of that person's name and address in a "do not register" file to avoid subsequent registration by a child under the age of thirteen (13).

3.  If your child sends us an e-mail with a question or comment, we will respond using his or her e-mail, but will not store it for future communications.

4.  If your child submits stories, artwork, comments or anything else to us which is posted at our site, he or she will be identified only by first name, age and state.

We will assist children, their families and their communities to find the information they need in order to use the Internet safely and responsibly.

The Children's Museum of Los Angeles is partially funded by outside sponsors. We will mark any underwriter logos with a "sponsored by" tag. We select our underwriters carefully, to ensure that the company's products and services fit Children's Museum of Los Angeles' standards.

The Children's Museum of Los Angeles will make every effort possible to ensure that links to outside sites follow our safety and privacy guidelines. We encourage adults and children to discuss internet safety together. We are not responsible for the content or safety and privacy practices at any sites linked from our pages.

This policy is subject to change from time to time.

The Children's Museum of Los Angeles site is a place where families can surf together, and where parents and caregivers can encourage their children to interact, learn and play. If you have any comments or questions about this site, we'd like to hear them. This is your site!

If you have any questions or concerns or ideas regarding this policy or web site, send us an e-mail at alexandra@childrensmuseumla.org or call us at 213.687.8800 ext. 200.
